The residence, built in 1890, is significant as one of the only remaining examples of late 19th-century T-plan houses in the county. Its presence and good state of preservation provide insight into the domestic architecture of this period rare in the region. This house exemplifies the craftsmanship available at the time, as seen in its detailed woodwork and customized brickwork.
The property described is located at the junction of State Highways 26 and 49 within the limits of the small town of Calhoun City. The residence is a two-story brick structure with a T-plan typical of the late 19th century. The main entrance is through a porch with reduced wooden columns and turned balustrade across the front facade. The brick is laid in common bond, resting on a high brick foundation. The gable roof is covered with new red asphalt shingles.
