The Merrill Fountain is an Italian Renaissance-style fountain located in Palmer Park, Detroit. It was designed by the renowned architectural firm Carrère and Hastings and originally constructed in 1904 in front of the old Detroit Opera House in Campus Martius Park, at a cost of one million dollars. The fountain was named in honor of Charles Merrill and was dedicated by his daughter, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Palmer.

As automobile traffic increased in downtown Detroit during the early twentieth century, the fountain was relocated in 1926 to the Merrill Plaisance at the southern boundary of Palmer Park. According to Detroit historians, "the fountain functioned for one season in the park and then pipes broke." It has remained dry for over five decades and has suffered damage from vandalism and the theft of decorative components.

Architecturally, the fountain features elaborate marble construction with a circular pool leading up one level to a clover-shaped upper pool with three central marble blocks, each holding a water spout. Decorative elements include an arch carved with cattails and water lilies, a marble turtle straddled by stylized fish, lion heads, gargoyles, and multiple integrated smaller fountains. The surrounding balusters are embellished with sculptural detail.

Despite its current non-functional state, the Merrill Fountain remains an important historical landmark reflecting Detroit's cultural heritage and the patronage of prominent nineteenth-century families. Restoration efforts have been discussed as part of broader Palmer Park revitalization initiatives led by community organizations working with the City of Detroit.
