Palmer Park is a 296-acre public park in Detroit, donated to the city in 1893 by U.S. Senator Thomas Witherell Palmer and his wife Lizzie. The park preserves one of the last remnants of old-growth oak-hickory forest in the city and includes the Merrill Fountain, the Palmer Log Cabin, a public golf course, tennis courts, athletic fields, and the Palmer Park State Fairgrounds Bandshell. The surrounding Palmer Park Apartment Building Historic District is anchored by the park.
