Charles N. Agree designed Art Deco landmarks across Detroit — the Vanity Ballroom, the Whittier Hotel, the Belcrest Apartments — and a string of neighborhood commercial buildings in Jefferson-Chalmers. His glazed terracotta and pattered brick gave 1920s Detroit a distinct popular Deco vernacular.
