What's Included

Lighting Already Set

Professional studio strobes and softboxes, dialed in for your face — no bringing your own gear, no lighting an empty room yourself.

Four Backdrops, One Session

Black, white, and grey paper plus a hand-painted canvas. Switch the whole look without leaving the room.

See It Retouched, Live

Every frame lands on a large screen as we shoot. You pick the keepers and watch them retouched by hand before you leave.

A Detroit photography studio with a photographer in it

The rent-by-the-hour marketplaces sell you a bare room and an hourly meter; the lighting, the retouching, and the eye behind the camera are your problem. A session here is the whole thing — Andrew Petrov sets the lights, shoots the frames, and hand-retouches the ones you keep, in a room built for portraits since 1889. You leave with finished images, not a memory card of raw files.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a studio I can rent by the hour?

No. This is a working portrait studio with a photographer, not a room rental. You book a session — headshots, portraits, or branding — and Andrew Petrov sets the lights, shoots the frames, and hand-retouches the images you choose. You do not bring your own camera or gear; everything you need is already here.

How much does a studio session cost?

You pay only for the finished images you keep. In the studio it is $149 for your first image and $99 for each after. If you would rather shoot on location, it is $299 for the first and $149 for each after. There is no session fee and no hourly minimum — you can shoot for an hour and take home a single portrait.

Where is the studio located?

The studio is inside the John N. Bagley House at 2921 E Jefferson Ave, Detroit — a restored 1889 mansion on the National Register of Historic Places, about ten minutes from downtown. There is parking on site.

What lighting and backdrops do you have?

Professional studio strobes with softboxes, plus black, white, and grey paper backdrops and a hand-painted canvas. We set the light for your face and switch backdrops mid-session, so a single booking gives you several distinct looks — a clean corporate headshot, a darker editorial frame, a warmer branded portrait.

What should I bring, and can I change outfits?

Bring two or three outfits on hangers. There is a private area to change and room to lay things out. Time is unlimited, so outfit changes never cost you the shot. We review every frame on a large screen as we go, and retouch the ones you keep by hand before you leave.
