Detroit Architect
George D. Mason1856–1948
George D. Mason ran a Detroit practice for seven decades and trained Albert Kahn as a draftsman. He designed the Detroit Masonic Temple — still the largest Masonic temple in the world — the Detroit Yacht Club, and the First Presbyterian Church. His office set the standard of careful eclectic design that shaped Detroit between 1880 and 1940.
