Common questions

Who hires Detroit Photography for travel and destination work?
Hotels and hospitality groups, tourism boards, editorial outlets, and any organization marketing Detroit as a place to visit. Our largest recurring clients are General Motors (Hudson's Detroit), the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (Orchestra Hall and community venues), the City of Detroit (mayoral visits, district events), and the Joe Louis Greenway Partnership.
Can you shoot drone, golden hour, and night exteriors?
Yes. Drone work is licensed for commercial use (FAA Part 107). Golden hour and blue hour shoots are scheduled around the season and weather—we'll send a shot list two days out. Night exteriors of the Guardian Building, the Fisher, and the Riverfront are standard for hospitality clients.
Do you license images for editorial use, hotel collateral, and tourism boards?
Yes. Standard delivery includes commercial usage rights for web, print, and social. Editorial buyouts and exclusivity windows are available on request. We've licensed work to local press, civic communications, and donor reports.
What does a destination shoot cost?
On-location work is $299 per hour, flat. A typical hotel or destination set runs three to four hours and delivers 40–80 final selects. In-studio portraits of staff or guest features start at $149 for the first image and $99 each additional. No minimums on short jobs.
How fast can you turn around images for a press deadline?
Edited selects within hours of the shoot for same-day press releases or social posts. The full color-corrected gallery within 48 hours, organized into folders for marketing, editorial, and ad use.
Can you cover an event and a destination shoot in the same day?
Routinely. The GM Hudson's opening combined a gala, an interior tour, and exterior architecture in a single booking. Tell us the schedule and we'll build a one- or two-photographer plan.
