Detroit Architect

C. Howard Crane1885–1952

C. Howard Crane was the theater architect of Detroit. The Fox, the State, the Majestic, Orchestra Hall, and the Detroit Opera House are all his. He designed roughly two hundred and fifty theaters across North America before moving to London in 1928. His Detroit work survives because the city refused, again and again, to let it fall.
