Detroit Architect

Albert Kahn1869–1942

Albert Kahn was the architect of industrial Detroit. He built the Ford Highland Park and River Rouge plants, the Packard plant, the Fisher Building, and the General Motors Building. He pioneered reinforced concrete factory construction and at his peak his firm was responsible for nineteen percent of all industrial architecture in the United States. The buildings below are his Detroit work — factories, offices, mansions, and clubs.
